No, Sir. You Are Not the Man. I am The Man. So this guy comes to the desk. Asks if he can have keys to his room. I recognize him, though I am not sure if it's who I think it is at first. I ask for his room number. He gives me about eight different numbers, some of which we don't even have at this hotel. I sigh and ask for his last name. "It's under my girlfriend's name. Hughes." I know who he is now. He walked in a few minutes ago with his girlfriend and some of his friends and they all went upstairs to their room. He also fought with me last weekend and claimed that the guy who works on Saturday let him check in at five in the morning and stay until eleven AM the next day. To that I said, in more polite words, 1. he checked in at 2:30 this morning and 2. that I didn't give a shit what the weekenders do and when I'm here we run this shitbox the way I like. A bit of advice? Okay, so, there is this line worker who stays with us b/c his company has a contract w/ our hotel.
He always comes downstairs, drunk to the point that the entire lobby reeks of scotch when he enters, and flirts with me. He asks me to dinner, makes little comments. Needless to say, it is not welcome. Sometimes it's down right embarrassing when there are other guests in the lobby.
Every time he does this, I discourage him vehemently. "I'm married," "I'm not interested," "No thank-you but feel free to use our business center to surf the local dating sites." Yes, I have been that blunt.
I've told my manager about him, and he has done . . . nothing.
How would deal with this situation? It happens every week. |

hilarity ensued. So there was this cripple living here for about a year. He'd hire front desk staff here to work for him in their free time, have them drive to the post office and Wal-Mart and shit for him. Every time the internet was down, he'd call down to the desk and there would be hell to pay, because he "needed it for his work!", and expected to be comped for every day he had any internet trouble. It reached the point where he demanded the number of our internet service and our repair guy to deal with them directly. Long story short, my GM was looking in the local paper last week (I think it was the Princeton Packet?) and saw that he was arrested for distributing child pornography on the internet. Fabulous. ...what?... For the first time in history, my resort is going to have less than 50% occupancy for the Christmas and New Year's. Oh. Mah. Gawd.
Are you kidding me? Where's the rush, the crowds, the MAYHEM?! I remember last year's...where are the people?! Seriously though, I'm bored to death at work with nothing but whiny guests who have never traveled overseas (and thus, forgotten to call their banks to tell them that! And of course your goddamn credit cards are declined!) and are freaked out by house geckoes that are more afraid of us! *headdesks* Current Mood: disbelief |

NiteVision Question Does anyone know if there's a way to search for CC transactions in NiteVision by the CC number itself?
I just got off the phone with a pretty upset lady who told me we'd charged her CC $190, but the only charge I could find was one for $4.52. It was a free night and they usually have like a $2 or $4 rate or something like that. I told her to call the 800 number because I honestly didn't know where the $190 charge came from. It took a few minutes to get her off the phone because she started saying Best Western always does this and we bounce her checks and all that, which led into me trying to explain what happens when you use a debit card at a hotel. I told her several times, "I don't know where that other charge came from, call the 800 number." I finally offered to fax her a receipt, and she gave up. I don't think she was lying, though.
Anywho, enough rambling. Is there a way I can look this up? |

Magazine Sales Groups Anybody else ever get these guys? They're like a swarm of obnoxious locusts sweeping into your hotel. Unfortunately, the economy being what it is, we've got to rent to them. 6 groups. In excess of 45 rooms. 2-4 CHUDs per room. Scam artists, crackheads, boozers, users... Losers. A great abundence of losers. They're up all night roaming around, smoking, being loud, mooching off the front desk's cash drawer to change out their large bills, trying to scam copies of room keys out of us for rooms that aren't their own (probably so they can rip off the bosses or their coworkers), loitering in the hotel common areas, abusing the soda and candy machines... The list goes on and on. The other day, they scammed their way into the room of a guest of another hotel. They took his wallet, his rental car keys, his laptop and a day-planner with all his access codes, his luggage (and all the clothes inside). They then had a male accomplice scam him away from that hotel and stole his rental car, as well. And yet, the groups are still here. Nobody needs money this badly. Why don't these douchebags go to a dive hotel and leave my hotel alone? Current Mood: aggravated |

LJ News Special Edition: Server Move, Permanent Account Sale Update, A La Carte Userpics Welcome to a Very Special Edition of LJ News. Moving Day and What It Means for YouMoving What Where? The long-awaited server move takes place this Tuesday, November 18, at 8:00 a.m. PST. We're moving the site from servers based in San Francisco to the servers in our new data center in Montana. A massive data move like this takes a lot of heavy lifting, and to haul all that data from San Francisco to Montana, we have to take the site down, starting at 8:00 a.m. PST on Tuesday morning. We don't think the move will take more than four hours, but there's always the possibility that it could take longer (the best laid plans and all). What Does This Mean for You? During the downtime, nothing on LJ will be available—no posting, no Friends page, no LJ mail, nada. When we bring the site back up, we're going to ease into it rather than open up a floodgate of traffic. Posting might not be immediately available or the site could be slow to load for a while. New servers mean new IP addresses, so it's possible that LJ mail might not reach your email inbox because your email provider or client doesn't recognize the new IP addresses. We're working with email providers to whitelist the new IPs. There are a few things you can do on your end: - Add these two IP addresses to your "allowed senders" list (or whitelist) and address book in your email client: 208.93.0.18 and 208.93.0.50. These are the new IPs for sending comments notifications and LJ mail to your email inbox.
- Add lj_notify@livejournal.com and webmaster@livejournal.com to your email address book.
If you can't edit the spam or junk filters in your email client, you may need to disable them entirely. Make these changes just before 8:00 a.m. PST on Tuesday morning or shortly after the site comes back up to ensure that your LJ mail makes it to your inbox. Those of you who use domain aliasing to forward your domain to your LiveJournal will need to create a CNAME record that maps to livejournal.com. Please note that we're no longer supporting the A record. For more information, check the domain forwarding FAQ. Before the move, you can check lj_maintenance for complete details about the planned downtime. During the move, you can check status.livejournal.org for updates about the site's status. Permanent Account Sale DelayedWe regret to inform you that due to the server move, the Permanent Account sale has been pushed back to December 4, rather than November 20 as announced in the last news post. After the virtual dust has settled from the move, we'll be able to turn our attention to the Permanent Account sale. Except for the start date, the details remain the same: You have a limited opportunity to purchase LJ for life for only $175. It's a bummer to delay the sale, but on the bright side, you have more time to save up. But What About A La Carte Userpics? We know we promised more information about a la carte userpics, and we're sorry that details have not been forthcoming (blame it on the move). We're still planning on having a la carte userpics, but we don’t have any details yet. When the move is over, we'll have more information. We're sorry for the delay. |

Excuse Me...? So last night we had a guest check in as per usual and he wanted directions to the university of Ottawa. Now, he handed me a piece of paper that said "University of Ottawa -- 4pm, Saturday" and nothing more. The Uni is just 10 min (walking) distance from us, and about 2 min driving. So I told him how to get there. ( F*ck. You. ) Current Mood: cranky |

Holy massive mellons Batman! Currently in house, there's this one guest who, the both nights I've seen her, is wearing this white button up shirt that barely covers her.
But more strangely, a few hours ago, I got a call from a guest who said that all their bathroom things had been packed and put in the bedroom area. This weirded out the guest enough to call down to report it and have me send up our Lost Prevention offcier to check it out. Nothing seems to have been taken, just moved. Very weird. |

Glorious Luck! That crapfest of a Saturday night I said we were going to get from the Hockey players and their drunk off their asses parents...yeah, we got it...but it stopped the minute I walked in the door. I haven't had to deal with one noise complaint, one damaged car, one vomit covered stairwell, one call for teenagers running rampant in the halls... B-shift did. And the manager on B-shift, after writing out a full page worth of night's complaints and actions...suggested we no longer welcome back hockey teams. Someone finally got it. And I am having a smashing night! -Ceej The NA who is doing her laundry on the fly here at the Day's Inn. Current Mood: jubilant |

Don't be a slowpoke. Look, I know it's 10:00PM and there aren't any people in line to check in. But seriously, when I ask you what your last name is - just tell me. Spending 5 minutes digging through your luggage looking for some confirmation letter from an international travel agency is just a massive waste of time. Especially since the travel document is in a language that isn't mine.

Do you want new livejournal friends?: Sure. Tattoos/Piercings: Tongue, Nose and ears pierced. Butterfly on my back, and flower with leaves on the inside of my upper left arm. About Me: I am a creative soul. I love taking photographs, drawing and painting (when i can). I'm a very organised person, i love things to be in order and know what i'm doing. I currently work in retail, but planning to leave shortly to pursue a career as a tattoo artist. I'd say i'm polite and rather laidback. I'm often quiet, but speak up on things i feel strongly about. I love meeting new friends and learning. Music: I am pretty varied when it comes to music. I used to listen strictly to singer-songwriter accoustic style music. But these days, if find myself listening to anything from Jewel to Beyonce to 50 cent to Metallica. I love catchy songs, i'm always singin' and humming around work.
Books: I stopped reading awhile ago, and have recently picked up a book again so i'm still discovering faves.
TV: I tend to watch a lot of reality tv. I know, i know i can literally hear my brain cells popping each and every time i'm watching television. Shows such as; aussie idol, next top model, big brother etc.
Movies: I watch more "boxed tv series" more than movies, when it comes to dvd's. But "the invisible circus" was a wonderful movie, i recommend it!
How long have you been writing to pen pals? I stopped for awhile, i had rather a lot going on around me, therefore i no longer write the snail mail, but may in the future with anyone i end up emailing with. I started writing to my very first penpal about 6yrs ago. I loved it.
How many pen pals do you have? None.
How many pen pals do you want? I could handle up to about 5.
How long are your letters? Medium-Long, It all just depends on if much has happened, depends on how much i have to say.
Do you hand-write or type? Type. I only want email friends, for now. How long does it take you to reply to a letter? Not long. What age would you like your email pal to be? 17-25 Would you like them to be male or female? No Preference.
Where would you like them to be from? Anywhere is fine, It would also be amazing to find someone in remote places, places you don't often hear about, therefore a place you know close to nothing about. I think it would be interesting! I also wouldn't mind a penpal from the same country as me, really anywhere is fine.
Hi guys! Just a little side note; Although i'm open to meeting anyone, it would be a little helpful to find someone who shares atleast one interest with me! :-) I'm a very friendly person, so please do get in contact! I would prefer that you write the first email, if you don't mind :-) EMAIL ME: JodyLiddell@Hotmail.com Current Mood: curious |

"I Demand You to Comp My Room!!!" Alrighty, the story under le cut is about a very "angry" man staying with us that had a "broken" hairdryer in his room. His hair was very wet and it's cold outside and he's not used to the cold even though he lives an hour away from Park City. -_-; It's cold there too! Tipped Out So, for the last few weeks, the bartenders have fallen into the habit of callin' me, and only me, to help 'em get guests out of the bar after closin' time. They call me because I'm the only one from security who will help 'em out. Tonight, I went up there, found three distinct groups of folks, had words with each, and they all left the bar without a problem. After, the bartender thanked me, and I made a joke about how I should start gettin' tipped out for helpin' 'em. He says, "Yeah, okay", reached into the pitcher behind the bar, and gave me ten bucks, cash. So, if this keeps up, I'm lookin' at an extra thirty bucks a week. Go me. Current Mood: accomplished |
